Internet with a touch of a pen
01.25.06 (12:38 pm)   [edit]
I absolutely love this new product by Nokia called the 770 Internet Tablet . Instead of carrying around bulky laptop computers or PDA's that just don't cut it when it comes to power and functionality, you can now carry a new Nokia Internet Tablet which allows you to browse the web, check email, listen to music, watch full motion video and flick through your photos amongst many other things.

The Internet Tablet makes use of 802.11b/g wireless networks allowing you to be online at anytime, whether your at home or out in the city or relaxing in a park...so long as you have access to a wireless hotspot with internet access you can stay connected wherever you are.

The battery time could use some work with operation between 3 hrs (while browsing) and 7hrs (stand by) but is fairly decent for just catching up on news, weather, email or whatever quickly and easily. It retails for around USD$300 which equates to around AUD$450 or so which is a pretty decent price for such a great device.
The Tablet's operating system is upgradeable (currently running Linux based Internet Tablet 2005) but there is word of a new OS IT (Internet Tablet) 2006 which will include VOIP and instant messaging to the vast array of features.

Be sure to check this one out. I am so exited about this product as it could mean
leaving my laptop behind at home when I go out and the device is small enough to carry with you so we get the best of both worlds.

Wow, that sounds awesome as heck ... I'm kinda surprised it took even this long for something like this to come out ... you thinking about getting one then? :)

yeh im thinking of getting one, they seem really cool. Would be awsome to be able to carry around something that small and still go online amongst many other things.

I want theem to come out with something like that with a full sized keyboard that folds up to the size of a credit card (preferably with a voice command... "keyboard? miniturize..") I don't seem to be able to get the hang of tapping with a stylus or thumbing tiny keys. Think it's the Old Dog, New Trick syndrome.
