GeForce 7800 more powerful than the PS3 GPU?
09.01.05 (2:20 pm)   [edit]

There has been many things said at the past E3, as well as many rumors (and also some truths) floating around on the internet about the graphical performance of the upcoming Playstation 3.

The Inquirer (US Publication) reports that a spokesperson for Nvidia who are the developer's of Both PS3's RSX graphics technology and the GeForce 7800 GPU stated "The RSX GPU is basically a slightly less powerful GeForce 7800". Now i've been a playstation fan ever since the PSX was released and am a proud owner of both the PSone and PS2 consoles, but if what this spokesperson's saying is true, having 2nd thoughts of getting the PS3 fill my mind.

Maybe just upgrading my current Radeon 9800Pro card in my PC to the GF7800 could be a better option in the long run. Even though the RSX GPU is slightly less powerful than the 'just released' 7800, the performance trade off could be insignificant and since the console will prob retail @ around USD$500 anyway, it would be cheaper to get a PS3 than to upgrade my PC.

I think when the next generation consoles are released, it will be interesting too see what the actual real world performance is on these new machines. Well, looks like we'll just have to wait and see.

PS3 Game Pricing Through the Roof
08.31.05 (4:49 pm)   [edit]

Whilst at the CESA Developers Conference, Hirokazu Hamamura who is president of Enterbrain Software spoke about realistic software prices for Sony's upcoming mega machine, the Playstation 3.

It was stated that PS3 software will be significantly more expensive than current PS2 games. It is expected that most games on the PS3 will retail between USD$70-$79, which means for us Australians we will be looking at prices anywhere from $90 to $110. Mmm, well @ least we've been told in advance, lol now we can save up!

Windows Vista Timeline Finally Revealed!
08.31.05 (9:15 am)   [edit]

Rumors plaguing the internet this past month or so since the announcement from Microsoft that Longhorn will be shipped as Windows Vista had said little about any clear cut release dates for the OS, but now all our questions may finally be answered.

According to recent Microsoft documentation, Vista looks like it's looking at a release somewhere in Q3-Q4, where Vista will then be widely avaliable November 2006. Check out the detailed look at WindowsITPro.com

Very Cool Gmail secret
08.31.05 (8:05 am)   [edit]

This Gmail 'secret' has been floating around on the net for quite some time now, but i was suprised to know how many people didn't actually know about this very useful address 'secret'. Finally someone blogged it!

The basic idea behind it is that say you wanted to subscribe to some service online, but fear the spam that may come with it. All you need to do is just add a few things to your address such as example+s1@gmail.com.

You can do this with your current address as may items you want, the subscribtion system the site uses will think there different addresses, but GMail thinks otherwise!

Unofficial Ubuntu 5.04 starter guide
08.29.05 (8:21 am)   [edit]

Ubuntu Linux 5.04 has been out for quite a few months now, and we are now starting to see a starter guide (unnofficial) for all the newbies out there, which is good cos it will hopefully get more people onto the linux bandwagon just by seeing how easy it is to use. I've tried out Ubuntu for a while and I think that its probably one of the easiest linux distributions to use for a linux newcomer in quite some time.
